The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsGood morning my DU family,
Happy Birthday to my sisters, brother and me,
That's fifty full years in the Land of the Free.
From New York to California, and more in-between,
So many States, mine own eyes have seen.
I've owned a Chevy, loved baseball and yes, Apple Pie,
I've seen her very best, and yes also things that made me cry.
I've been here for decades, my German long ago faded,
I'm an American, no matter how jaded.
I hope this poem expresses my heart felt pride,
My gratitude, and joy, for this amazing ride.
As tonight's fireworks delight your eyes and ears,
Thanks so much for these fifty years.
Please give us a day filled with opportunities to be grateful for this great country we live in, and to give whatever we can back to her so that she may have many many more.
Have a day worth 250 years DU,
Love, John
