Some songs don't age well.

Some songs don't age well. Meanings change and social opinions evolve. For instance, Ringo no longer sings "You're Sixteen (you're Beautiful And You're Mine)". It just doesn't play well these days.

Gary Puckett and The Union Gap were such pervs they would have gotten airplay on the Epstein jet:
Young girl
Get out of my mind
My love for you is way out of line
Better run, girl
You're much too young, girl

With all the charms of a woman
You've kept the secret of your youth
You led me to believe you're old enough
To give me love
And now it hurts to know the truth

Another that may have been banned 40 years later is "Windy" by The Association. It was stuck in my head the other day and I started checking the lyrics. There are only two reasons a girl would get the nickname Windy these days. One is that she talks too much, but the lyrics imply it's something else:

"Who's peekin' out from under a stairway
Callin' a name that's lighter than air?
Who's bendin' down to give me a rainbow?
Everyone knows it's Windy"

And just what is a rainbow and why does she have to offer them under stairways?

Gilbert O’Sullivan’s “Claire”

It feels Epstein/Trump-like.

Like so many others. It has to be worse now with streaming, but ASCAP still gives them a cut.

She says she wrote Windy in 20 minutes, and that's amazing, but she only wrote the opening lines in the OP and the chorus over and over and over again until the fade.

Seriously, it's like they stretched out a one minute song to jukebox length:

And Windy has stormy eyes
That flash at the sound of lies
And Windy has wings to fly
Above the clouds (above the clouds)
Above the clouds (above the clouds)

And Windy has stormy eyes
That flash at the sound of lies
And Windy has wings to fly
Above the clouds (above the clouds)
Above the clouds (above the clouds)

Who's trippin' down the streets of the city
Smilin' at everybody she sees?
Who's reachin' out to capture a moment?
Everyone knows it's Windy

Who's trippin' down the streets of the city
Smilin' at everybody she sees?
Who's reachin' out to capture a moment?
Everyone knows it's Windy

Who's trippin' down the streets of the city
Smilin' at everybody she sees?
Who's reachin' out to capture a moment?
Everyone knows it's Windy

Who's trippin' down the streets of the city
Smilin' at everybody she sees?
Who's reachin' out to capture a moment?
Everyone knows it's Windy

Who's trippin' down the streets of the city
Smilin' at everybody she sees?
Who's reachin' out to capture a moment?
Everyone knows it's Windy

Was another creepy one but Jennifer Nettles and Sara Bareilles have fun with it here..

Here's another one that's not so much about age as it is pretty suggestive (although admittedly it was lost on me except my mom would make me turn off the radio when it was on)

Which brings me to this Peter Paul & Mary song about using music 🎶 to say something or sell something?..
I dig rock and roll music, and to love to get the chance to play (and sing it)
I figure it's about the happiest sound goin' down today

The message may not move me
Or mean a great deal to me
But hey, it feels so groovy to say
I dig The Mamas and The Papas at the trip Sunset Strip in L.A.

And they got (they got) a good thing goin' when the words don't get in the way
And when they're really wailing
Michelle and Cass are sailin'
Hey, they really nail me to the wall, yeah

Donovan in a dream-like, tripped out way
His crystal images, hey, they tell you 'bout a brighter day
And when The Beatles tell you (they'll tell you)
They've got a word, love to sell you (only in love)
And they mean exactly what they say

I dig, oh-oh, rock and roll music
I could really get it on in that scene
I think I could say somethin' if you know what I mean
But if I really say it, the radio won't play it
Unless I lay it between the lines
