        These flowers are so very beautiful, and they contrast wonderfully with the foliage. Wow.

        I saw local purple ones blooming yesterday. Mine are light pink, and they're only about 15" tall, no buds yet.

        That iris reminds me of the Northern Blue Flag Iris that could be seen scattered through woodlands, adjacent to my family's house in 
Upstate  New York.  Such an iconic flower.

        These are probably the same species you saw growing wild in the woods. They're native plants and are known by many names. I call  these blue flags. Beautiful by any name.
