They raise a question I've often wondered about - if you didn't know when and where these pictures were snapped, could you tell just by looking at them whether they were of sunrises or sunsets? Any tips would be appreciated.

I copied and pasted one response found on reddit: "at a sunrise the sky tend to get lighter way before the sun even comes up. at a sunset the sky turns darker and a bit red/orange ish as the sun hits the horizon. light blue and yellow for sunrise dark blue and orange for sunset. source: i'm a night owl and experience way more frequently the transition from night to dawn and how the sky changes."

These are two photos I took some time ago. The first was taken before a sunrise with kind of streaky colors in the lightening sky:

whereas some sunsets leave a lasting glow along the horizon:

I imagine if you studied images of both phenomena you could note differences in the skies. Thank You for asking!

The cloud patterns were too different in these photos to make for a valid comparison, but the yellow/orange, sunrise/sunset difference is worth tracking.

skies about four years and found a home for them here. We've since moved from that locale and its wide open opportunities for pleasing scenes. I appreciate your interest nonetheless.

Just curious … what are the winters like in your area, do you get much snow?

and cold, cold temperatures. Before, winters weren't so bad and tolerable.
We'll see what happens here.
