No need for AI when you've got GIMP.

Only AI I ever use might be in a background image I use for a mashup or fake. I ask DuckDuckGo NOT to return AI images on a search, but some sneak through.

Be a learner and doer, not a button-pusher.

Speaking of button-pushing,
I use two mice with GIMP, a marble mouse and a Magic Mouse for scrolling around horizontally, vertically and for zooming.
