Lawrence Welk (March 11, 1903 – May 17, 1992) was an American accordionist, bandleader, and television impresario, who hosted The Lawrence Welk Show from 1951 to 1982. The program was known for its light and family-friendly style, and the easy listening music featured became known as "champagne music" to his radio, television, and live-performance audiences.

1. I liked the show, in the late 70s I had an evening job caretaking an elderly man and he and his wife watched the LW Show

It grew on me, and those Lennon sisters, va va voom...

2. Oh, did my parents love that show... As very young kids my sister and I totally did not get it, but...

I get that it was a showcase for the music of its time. Now, Ed Sullivan, I could understand more, especially with the variety of performers--although it was my Mom, once again that got all excited about the Beatles. My sister and I were still a bit too young to appreciate at the time.
