New permit requirement for events with 30 or more people at Tempe city parks

TEMPE, AZ — The Tempe City Council has passed an ordinance that would require events with 30 or more people to have a permit and pay a $25 fee.

"It gives the city manager a lot of power,” said Austin Davis, founder of the nonprofit AZ Hugs, which serves people who are homeless. "You know, when we talk about checks and balances in every sense of government, this is an attack on those checks and balances.”

The $25 fee increases to $50 if you do not live in the city, and ranges from $150 to $3,500 for special event permits, depending on the size and scope of the event.

1. Hmmm, seems like they don't want people to assemble on the people's property

I could see it for using a ramada at the park. In fact, I paid $40 for a ramada so people could use the tables to if they needed to make signs for out protest back in May.

Time for Tempe's city council to go find different jobs where they can't push people around for exercising their rights. By the way, does Trump have any outstanding bills with Tempe for special traffic control and/or security for any rallies he may have held there? Just curious.
