7 shot at house party near Ball State University, police say
MUNCIE, Ind. — Police say seven people have been shot at an off-campus party near Ball State University in Indiana.
Muncie Police Chief Joe Winkle tells WXIN-TV that three people are in critical condition after the shooting early Saturday. Winkle says some of the victims are Ball State students. He says one was airlifted to a hospital in Indianapolis, about 50 miles southwest of Muncie.
Winkle says it appears the shooting happened after "some kind of confrontation inside the house." He says about 50 to 75 people were in the house at the time.
Ball State issued a campus alert shortly after the shootings warning members of the university community to stay clear of the area.
