Calcasieu Parish sees strong early voting turnout for the May 3 election

With a parishwide tax renewal, two Lake Charles city government runoffs and four West Lake propositions on the ballots in Calcasieu Parish, the area saw more early votes for the May 3 election than it did for the March 29 election.

Over the seven days of early voting for the May 3 election, Calcasieu Parish received 7,716 ballots. Data from the Louisiana Secretary of State shows 5,392 of those early votes were done in person, and 2,324 were absentee.

With in-person votes and absentee ballots, 2,134 votes were cast in the parish after just the first day of early voting on April 19.

Throughout the entirety of early voting for the March 29 election for Lake Charles mayor, other City Council seats and statewide propositions, Calcasieu Parish received 6,687 early ballots out of its 123,307 registered voters.
