MI-AG: Mark Totten (D) drops bid for AG after UAW endorses his opponent

Lansing — Former U.S. Attorney Mark Totten has dropped his bid for the Democratic nomination for state attorney general.

Totten's departure from the race comes a day after the United Auto Workers union endorsed his primary opponent, Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald.

Following that and other major union endorsements, Totten said he concluded there was no "viable path forward."

Totten, who was previously Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's top lawyer before becoming U.S. attorney in west Michigan during the Biden administration, did not endorse a Democratic candidate in his statement Tuesday.
