Incredible quote here from a Somali small business owner in Minneapolis who voted for Trump. minnesotareformer.com/2026/01/19/a...

Voting for Trump — and regretting it
Sharif, the Madina Mall shop owner who fears she may have to return to the bad old days of having a boss, gave out an exasperated sigh.

“Would you believe if I told you I voted for this man?” she said, referring to Trump.

Sharif is not politically active, but in 2024, some campaigners came to her shop and told her that Trump would be good for business and against the LGBTQ agenda.

“I was immediately hooked,” she said. She voted Republican for the first time.

Now, chagrined, she said, “I never thought the man I put in office would come for my family, make me financially struggle and cause me so much fear that I carry my passport when I go to the bathroom,” she said, pointing at the mall’s bathrooms.

“I feel as though the weapon I built is coming to kill me and my people,” she said.

and let others live their lives as they see fit... it does no harm to me if a woman marries another woman, or a man marries another man. It's not going to affect my marriage. What business is it of anyone's who someone loves? I could never understand the reasoning behind their attitude. I guess they think if they don't adhere to everything their pedophile prophets demand, god will strike them down with lightening or something. (sigh)

What agenda is that? Being treated as a human being? Please as a straight man back in
the day I got hit on by gay men on occasion but I found if I didn’t have sex with men then
my gay agenda problems were not a problem. Btw I have some really great gay and lesbian
friends and neighbors too.

FAFO. Ms. Sharif. Don’t you remember Trump calling African nations shit holes.
BTW I am sure that there are LGBT Somalis too.

Muslim or Christian doesn't matter much. Anti-LGBT is the only hook they needed.

Luckily for her, the rational majority of MN voted against MFer, so she didn't actually help put him back in office.

…sitting on a cloud that has a “special plan” for them wants them to be homophobic bigots. A good
friend of mine came out as a lesbian after years of being married and was a mother of two daughters
too. Her biological father has been awful to her ever since because he is a “good Catholic.”

Put the hate down you will live longer.

And I'll say it again. I can't understand why Latinos vote for Republicans. Maggots don't want brown people in the country. Then again, not a problem. trump will only go after criminal brown people so we got nothing to worry about.

Had nothing to do with the economy or the price of eggs.

A queer woman was willing to stand up for her rights. She would not do the same. Selfish, bigoted and stupid.

.....if suffrage should be universal. Far too many complete morons and / or heartless wankers are allowed to vote.

In order to cast a ballot, first you have to have a certain level of intelligence. Next, a certain level of empathy. Lack either one and no vote for you. She would be disenfranchised on both criteria.

Perhaps our ancestors weren't completely wrong in limiting those who could vote. They just excluded the wrong people.

What is wrong with the people in this country? Why can’t they just be kind and glad for others? Their hating and prejudices make me very angry and deeply sad. How did we create so much hate and unhappiness? I don’t get it and I’m running out of patience with the ‘let’s blame and be angry’ people.

In part because of Gaza blah-de-blah (that tRump wants to "clean out", the same tRump that ended Biden's sanctions on violent West Bank settlers, the same Trump that enacted the "Muslim ban" on several countries including Somalia, that called African countries "shithole countries", and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.)

... [aggrieved Minneapolis Somali voter] “You’re telling us you’re doing something about the genocide in Palestine. You promised all these things, but you guys never kept it.”

... he is noticing increased grievances with the Democratic party in his own community, particularly with those opposed to the “liberal agenda.” He said many Somalis hold conservative religious and family values that have more in common with Republicans than Democrats.

. . . “The last 10 years, the Somali community has been voting with Democrats with no return on investment in the community,” Ismail said. “They took their vote for granted.”

. . . that they were “sick of the status quo” and of feeling “taken for granted by the Democrats.”

and much more such at the link. Including a couple nasty tRump comments about Somalis, e.g. that Minnesota had "suffered enough" for taking in thousands of Somali refugees.

ETA - Everything in this post (and the linked-to post) are things he did and said BEFORE people voted in the 2024 election.
