Rankin County Board of Supervisors move to fill vacant position after Scott Berry steps down

BRANDON, Miss. — The Rankin County Board of Supervisors has approved a special election to fill a seat left vacant by the resignation of Scott Berry.

Berry's resignation went into effect June 13. The board approved a special election to be held in November. The winning candidate will serve the remainder of Berry's term.

"The regular special election day every year is the first Tuesday after the first Monday of November," said attorney Craig Slay.

Officials said Berry accepted a full time private sector position with a fire apparatus supplier.
