New Jersey
Related: About this forumI sure get a lot of push polling calls.
I guess it started when I got the first one, to which I replied that I am 100% likely to vote in the Democratic Primaries. (Actually it's slightly less than 100%, as there is a significant possibility that I will die at some point.)
It's always a "survey."
I haven't decided which member of the crowded field of gubernatorial candidates I'll vote. Each of them has merits, none have major demerits although the push poll asked questions raising negative aspects of one about not being anti-orange slime mold in the White House enough.
It's always a pleasure to be asked to rate the orange slime mold on a scale of 1 to 10 with one being the worst and answering "zero."
If there is a debate scheduled between the candidates, I'm unaware of it.
Usually in primaries, whoever I vote for loses, so there's that.

(3,747 posts)or rather I'm not picking up my land line unless it's family.
I'm still confused about whom I'll support which is not typical for me.
I have to tell people that I haven't a clue when they ask my opinion about the candidates.

(35,722 posts)It asks me if candidate A said "x" would I be more likely to vote for candidate A or not.
If I "knew" that candidate B said "y" (here it's usually negative would I be less likely to vote for Candidate B or not.
I attended a Phil Murphy event before his primary, not because I had a preference for him, but because he had a very good well funded machine for reaching Democrats and had been sending me emails somehow or another not stating he was running for Governor (he was). So from the emails I knew they'd be an event, so I went.
He didn't take live questions, but asked people to submit cards with questions, presumably so his staff could choose those he wanted.
One thing he said that I liked was that he was going to do his utmost to keep New Jersey's best students in New Jersey for their career.
My son was a top student, accepted everywhere he applied, but the 2nd worst offer he got was from Rutgers. Rutgers can afford huge salaries for the football coach, over half a million, but very little for engineering students. It was crazy. All they could tell him was how lucky he was to be accepted to Rutgers engineering. Not really.
(My other son works for Rutgers and when I go to visit him I want to puke every time I see the CTE generating football stadium.)
My son who declined to go to Rutgers for engineering went to a private University for free except room and board, and got sent all over the world on NSF grants, and internships at National Labs. He'll not be returning to New Jersey. (I'm not sure he'll stay in this country under the circumstances.)
Look, Phil hasn't been a bad governor, but I wish I'd had more choices because he certainly wasn't the best choice possible.
I'm going to try to research the candidates before I vote. I've heard things I like about Spiller and Sherrill (who was subject to the negative remarks in the push poll, pennyante stuff). Gottheimer has a very amusing video of punching the orange slime in the Whitehouse in a boxing ring, but that doesn't mean shit.
I'll try to make the best choice I can. I very much like to have a choice. But again, whoever I choose (at least if karma is a thing) is likely to lose.

(14,140 posts)The only one for which I have reservation, is Spiller. He is under criticism for taking health care benefits for which he is not qualified. He is a part time mayor of Montclair, N.J. He received health care benefits even though he worked less than the 30 hour per week requirement.
The Republican mayor of Wildwood was prosecuted for the same offense - receiving health benefits for which he was not qualified. The Ledger has questioned why Spiller gets to "skate" under the same circumstances.
Spiller makes a "shit-load" of money as president of N.J.E.A. I believe it is over $400k. He does not need the state health care benefit.
