Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) A historic election night in Monroe County saw a significant political shift as Democrats swept several town and local races, marking a turning point both locally and nationally.
There were some tightly contested races in this election, including the supervisor race in Pittsford, where Republican Bill Smith claimed victory. But several other town supervisor seats flipped from red to blue in a pivotal election.
Monroe County Democratic Committee Chairman Stephen DeVay expressed surprise at the outcome.
"I don't think that anybody was going to bet on it last night that it would have been this many seats kind of flipped, and this many people really stepping up and saying, Yeah, we're going to do this now,'" DeVay said.

Also, I own a small cottage on Keuka, which I inherited from my parents. Quite red down there.

(29,805 posts)We moved to Greece when I was 8. My dad grew up in Chicago. The first time we went to Buckman's, he wanted to get some jelly filled donuts and told the bakery guy he wanted bismarcks, which is what they are called in Chicago. They had no idea WTH he was talking about.
And all the quality department stores that are long gone - E.W. Edwards, Sibley's, McCurdy's, Forman's.
