Last day to register to vote before September election approaches

LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) - The last day to register to vote in the September 9 elections is approaching.

The deadline is just over two weeks away, on August 15.

According to Comanche County Election Board Secretary Amy Sims, those who are United States Citizens, residents of Oklahoma and at least 17.5 years old are eligible to apply; however, you must be at least 18 years old to vote.

If an application is submitted after August 15, the election board says they will be accepted, but will not be processed until after the September 9 election. Applicants will be notified in writing when their application has been processed, with approved voters receiving a Voter Identification Card in the mail. Those who are not approved will receive a letter explaining why the application was denied.
