Mayoral candidates tackle climate change, transit funding at recent forum

All four candidates for mayor of Pittsburgh took the stage Tuesday for a forum where they touched on topics ranging from public safety, to climate change.

The forum, which spanned two hours, posed the same set of questions to the Republican and Democratic candidates.

It has been one of the few times the Republican candidates — retired police officer Tony Moreno and small business owner Thomas West — appeared on the stage and in front of voters together. But Democrats Ed Gainey and Corey O’Connor have been appearing regularly in debates and forums together for the past few months.

Mr. Gainey and Mr. O’Connor appeared more cordial than at previous debates that have recently aired.
