Fwiw, local observations

With so many local candidates cross-filing as both Dems and Rs, it's hard to draw many conclusions in a closed primary, but in my majority R registration Beaver county, D turnout was 26%, Rs 18%.

In the school board primary for seats in my region, one of RWers who was ousted in the last school board elections tried to reclaim his seat. He was opposed by 2 sane Rs for 2 open seats. He was soundly defeated in both the D and R primaries meaning he is off the Nov ballot.

PRIMARIES SHOULD NOT BE CLOSED.
we are where we are due mostly to this practice. it needs to end before it ends us.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
