Angelina County elections officials explain need for younger poll workers following new law

LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - Election season is approaching, and local election officials are preparing for changes following a new state law.

They say that the biggest need now is for more volunteers.

Terri Jordan, the elections administrator for Angelina County, said that there’s always a need for more election volunteers and poll workers. Especially ones that are younger.

“They’re retirees and they’re getting to the point where ‘I can’t do it anymore,’ so now we’re having vacancies. And the younger, middle, and other people aren’t helping and learning so they can step in and take over,” Jordan said.
