Early voting in Texas starts October 20

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — With voter registration now closed for next month’s constitutional election, attention turns to early voting, which begins October 20 and runs through October 31 across Texas.

This year’s ballot includes statewide propositions on issues such as citizenship status for voters and diverting some sales tax dollars to the state water fund. Voters will also decide several local races, where even a single ballot could sway the outcome.

Nick Jimenez with the League of Women Voters of the Corpus Christi Area said local elections often show how much difference one vote can make.

“They had an automatic recount, then they had a manual recount, and they still tied,” Jimenez said. “Think if one more vote had been cast.”
