Pike Place Market's Virginia Inn avoids closure as new operator is sought

The Virginia Inn will remain open after the owner and Pike Place Market Preservation and Development Authority (PDA) came to an agreement.

The long-standing restaurant at 1937 First Ave. in Seattle's Pike Place Market announced nearly three weeks ago that it would close for good April 27 after the PDA ended its month-to-month lease.

But on Monday the restaurant posted an update on social media saying it received "a last minute reprieve of the eviction notice from the PDA" and had "plans to find a path forward."

In an email, the PDA told the Business Journal that the Virginia Inn will continue to operate under the current owner, Craig Perez, through early September as they work to identify new ownership. The PDA wanted to avoid a closure during "the busy summer season."
