Bellevue sets 'more ambitious' housing goal after meeting 2027 target early

The city of Bellevue approved a new affordable housing strategy that runs through 2032 and aims to preserve 5,700 units over a 10-year period.

The new short-term plan replaces the city’s 2017 version and provides a roadmap for building or preserving affordable homes in Bellevue. It also identifies new funding and resources to support this effort.

The plan includes 24 strategies to advance the city’s goals and will be considered a “menu of options” to guide future work, according to an April 30 announcement.

“Bellevue is focused on meeting the needs of our growing community,” said Bianca Siegl, executive director of the city’s Office of Housing, in a prepared statement. “The Affordable Housing Strategy builds on past progress and accelerates the important work of expanding access to safe, accessible and affordable homes for all.”
