Residents hear from Supreme Court candidate Chris Taylor (D) in Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT — A curious group of residents gathered at the Stevens Point Democratic Party office on March 14 to hear Wisconsin Court of Appeals Judge Chris Taylor speak about her campaign for a seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court ahead of the April 7 spring election.

Taylor is running against fellow Court of Appeals Judge Maria Lazar for the open seat. In August 2025, Justice Rebecca Bradley announced she would not seek re-election.

The race will not change the ideological balance of the state’s highest court, but a victory by Taylor would secure the court’s liberal majority through 2030. Whoever wins the election will serve a 10-year term.

Lynn Wyman, 74, a Portage County resident, said she attended the event to learn more about Taylor beyond campaign messaging.
