Conservative Supreme Court Justice Annette Ziegler announced today she won’t seek reelection in 2027, saying it will be the right time to step away for more time with her family next year after three decades on the bench.

Ziegler, elected to the Supreme Court in 2007 after serving on the Washington County bench, said she will serve the remainder of her term.

Ziegler’s departure will leave another conservative seat up for grabs on the court after liberals flipped control in their favor three years ago. Fellow conservative Justice Rebecca Bradley decided not to seek reelection this spring, saying at the time that the “conservative movement needs to take stock of its failures, identify the problem, and fix it.”

We need that to even attempt to get our state back to acting purple let alone blue.
