How do I self-delete a post

Suddenly I'm inundated with dupe posts. But when I open 1 to delete it, I can't find a way. This leaves my with no action other that to erase the content but leave up the post "container." Do you know how to delete a post?

1. Try the edit button at the bottom of your post?

Try erasing it?

5. Yes this is what I've been doing but that doesn't append "this post was self-deleted"

It might be I don't have the delete function bc I'm almost always on my mobile device.

6. That leaves the post intact and people can still respond to the post

because they can click to see the earlier unedited post. See below for instructions to use the Powers button to completely delete the post and close the post to further responses.

2. Look at the lower left-hand corner of your post. There's a box called "powers."

Click on that, and you'll find the self-delete command.

8. The Powers box shows on my iPhone.

It's in a row of three boxes: Alert, Share, and Powers, which are above the row of Edit, Rec, and Reply boxes. Maybe there are different mobile presentations depending on your device.

3. Click the "Powers" button in the lower left corner of your post.

The self-delete choice is the first option to select.

11. I edit the title to "Deleted duplicate" and clear the reply text.

(Or "Deleted - posted to wrong thread" or whatever.)

I prefer that to getting the self delete message because I can give a reason.

On edit: And when I've posted something to the wrong thread (which I somehow manage to do periodically) I can later edit the post if I have an appropriate reply.
