1. Sounds like you might have Edge as your default web browser

I'm going under the assumption you're running Win 11?

Anyhow, instructions:
Right click on your Start button and click "settings"
Click "Apps"
Click "Default Apps"
Scroll down to "Google Chrome"
At the very top, it says "Make Google Chrome Your Default Browser" with a button to the right of it that says "Set Default." Click that puppy.

That should solve your problem.

3. Go to your Systems Settings (or Preferences if in an earlier OS),

then go to Desktop & Dock (or General), scroll down and choose the desired browser from the "Default web browser" menu. Command-N will then take you to whichever browser you choose.

4. Will that then get me to a Google search page instead of Bing search page when I hit Command N?

7. To use Google while Firefox is your browser, go to your Firefox settings,

go to the "Search" section, and select Google from the default search engine dropdown. Command-N just opens a new window in the application you are using so I have no idea why it takes you to Bing.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.

Tell me more...
