How do I upload a picture on this site?

I thought there used to be a way to upload a picture from your hard drive. I don't see that option now. Is it possible?

I use https://postimages.org/ but it looks like they are leaning towards ads and/or paid subscriptions like photobucket did years ago so who knows?

3. I start with a photo, then use Imag2url or pixi.com to covert to an url which you can copy to DU

These are free sites, but limit size and number of images. Image2url has a lot of ads that get in the way, but I’ve learned to ignore them.

Warning, you are giving them access to your photo library and, God only knows, what else. So far, no trouble.

I do this on my iPhone as I occasionally use screen shots after editing to photos.

I think postimages.org is another commonly used one.

13. My steps for using imgur:

1. Open https://imgur.com/upload in the browser. (I use a separate tab or browser instance to keep this open.)
2. If the image is in your local storage, use "Choose Photo/VIdeo" and upload it from storage.
3. If the image is on the web, capture it using your browser's controls. For Firefox I use Ctrl-Shift-S and choose the image/area and copy to your clipboard. Paste it into the Imgur page you opened in step 1.
4. Right click on the displayed image after Imgur says it has been saved successfully. Select "Copy image link" and paste that into the DU new post page.

This ain't elegant and it isn't a single button push. It is almost muscle memory now for me so it takes about 20 seconds to run through the appropriate steps.

7. Easiest I've found

(after scrounging around DU for ages) is to use postimages. Upload free there and then click near the top of the list on the “direct image” link. Paste here in your post and there you go.

15. DU only accepts links (.jpg, .gif, etc.) I think. It doesn't actually store the image content.

This is probably for two good reasons.
1. storage space
2. digital rights

Things change. Imgbb was glacially slow for a while. Postimages sent me to a spam page. Recommend something and it makes you look dumb.
