Craigslist harassing job poster

Has anyone here encountered (as I did today) abusive / harassing posters in the jobs section of Craigslist? In replying to postings I usually write back and ask for information about the firm, rather than just sending off my resume and CV to random posters. I got big blowback today, the guy clearly researched personal info about me, and even called my last employer and complained about me! It was really scary and I hope I've caused him to lose my trail...

Maybe you should start with one basic question to clarify the nature of the position or something to see if they are legit before giving out your private info.

Also if you mention that you're careful about giving out personal information on an anonymous craigslist posting and a good employer might recognize that as a prudent quality in you.

Also you could put your past employment references on a separate sheet, saying that that to protect the privacy of your references, you only distribute them after making contact with a potential employer and not in rely to an anonymous posting.
