It's not the standards, it's the misuse of the standards and the tests.

I often look at predictors. Poverty is the greatest predictor of standardized test outcomes, and, for me, appointing Arne Duncan instead of LD-H as Secretary of Education was the clear predictor of what I could expect from the Obama administration.

to what Obama said about education in the '08 primaries; about how "some teachers were unhappy with him," and about how education was one of the things Republicans "got right." I watched his response to my association's endorsement, which I did not support.

I'm very, very sorry to have been correct.
