Russia Furious - Joe Blogs

The United States has just seized a tanker flying a Russian flag — after a dramatic pursuit across the Atlantic.

In this video, I break down the extraordinary seizure of a vessel that was being tracked by U.S. authorities and then suddenly rebranded itself as Russian — changing its name, raising a Russian flag, and claiming Russian registry while still at sea.

Despite that, the U.S. boarded the ship anyway.

Senior U.S. officials, including JD Vance, have dismissed the vessel as a “fake Russian tanker,” arguing the last-minute reflagging was a desperate attempt to avoid seizure. Moscow strongly disagrees — warning that forcibly taking a ship flying another nation’s flag risks serious escalation and violates international maritime law.

In this video, I explain:
• Why Russia is so angry about this seizure
• Whether a ship can legally change its name, flag, and ownership while at sea
• What the tanker was flying under before it claimed to be Russian
• Why the U.S. says the Russian flag didn’t protect it
• How many tankers the U.S. has now seized in this campaign
• What actually happens to ships once they are taken into U.S. custody
• And why this incident raises the risk of direct confrontation between the U.S. and Russia

This isn’t just about one tanker. It’s about how far the U.S. is willing to go to enforce sanctions — and how close that enforcement is coming to a direct clash with Russia.
