Donald Trump's push to acquire Greenland has escalated from last year’s purchase offer to the threat of US military force, raising fears of NATO's biggest member attacking its smaller ally, Denmark.

1. *IF* Trump's military "took over" Greenland, then

would a sequential (democratic) administration return the territory to Greenland's autonomy? Would this be temporary? And would the U.S. return to NATO?

Or would a democratic Executive be hampered by a republican Congress from these goals?

I've suspected that Trump was trying to incrementally leave NATO by his demands for higher contributions by other member countries. He's ramping up the disengagement b/c he and/or his staff don't believe that he has that much time left to effect this goal.
