Here come the holidays! How are you planning to stay clean?

1. I'm chairing the Monday night meeting for December

Keeps me out of trouble, that night and during my research/study time, too.

2. The old-timers used to say.....

"Don't drink (or drug), read the Big Book and go to meetings." I would add to that "try to regularly call another alcoholic." Has worked for me for 31 years, including around 20 years of traveling in my work.

I'm retired now and I guess I'm now an old-timer but still know that if I drink I'm a dead man. Old-timers also taught me to never, never get complacent and assume I could never drink again. Unfortunately, I'm no longer able to attend in-person meetings.

Thanks for posting this question, as it reminded me to dust off that old Big Book and give myself a little refresher!

3. I pretty much hate the holidays

My mom died in the beginning of December years ago, so it really hasn't been the same since. I sort of dread the holidays. Since I've been clean, I skip Christmas parties. Makes it a lot easier. And my wife is very understanding. She doesn't have a problem going to parties by herself.

4. I also dislike the holidays...Much too much hype. I pray a whole lot, go to on line meetings.

Sometimes go to in person meetings.
