(2,010 posts)One was an anorexic alcoholic, which is actually more common than one would think.
She had her disorder "under control" but her heart and overall health had been compromised after years of malnutrition. She died 6 years ago at age 48, after gall bladder surgery.
My other friend is not an alcoholic, has her disorder mostly under control too, and unfortunately has a heart condition that is partly hereditary, and partly due to the strain from malnutrition due to anorexia.. She has a great team of health care professionals who help to keep her grounded and eating. Her 11 year old son is now seeing a nutritionist, because he exhibits similar finicky eating habits. This friend has complained about a swallowing issue that affects her desire and ability to eat. She's concerned her son may have a similar issue.
It's heartbreaking to see Celine looking so emaciated. I hope she's able to get the help she needs.
And I hope her kids are doing ok.
