Related: About this forumI was going to buy some Zquil to help me sleep. And then...
I was in line and took a close look at the label. In tiny print it said 10% alcohol. Ooops! Probably not a good idea if Im trying to stay sober. I found a version that's alcohol free. Plus it's free of food coloring and other additives. This stuff works great. I try to use it only on weekends, since that's the toughest time for me to stay asleep.

(133,057 posts)position yourself right in to relaxed sleep stance (release all your muscles) and turn out all lights and it will be a hook to sleep (it doesn't make you sleepy but it gives you a hook telling your body that it is the right time to sleep 10 to 30 minutes after you take it - it is up to you f you are ready to catch that one hook to dreamland).

(29,782 posts)Benadryl is an antihistamine that has been around forever, and its famous for making people drowsy, sometimes markedly so. The generic name is diphenhydramine. Its available in capsules which would not have any alcohol. Your pharmacist could help you figure out the equivalent dose to Zzzquil. Might cost less
Little kids can get hyper rather than drowsy on Benadryl. At the pediatric office, Id often have moms ask about giving their toddlers Benadryl before traveling. Is always tell then to try it at home first to see how they reacted. The last thing you want in a car or plane is a toddler you have to pull off the ceiling -

(7,080 posts)it really helped me fall asleep. Then one day I was taking my morning walk and felt a little short of breath. Not normal. Checked the side effects and VOILA - shortness of breath. I quit them. Scared me. I have trouble falling asleep but once I do I am good for the entire night. Gotta be careful with drugs for sure.
