What's for Dinner, Sat., April 18, 2026

Sorry folks, Cher is busy in union meetings all day today, and asked if I could post her dinner thread.

We're having homemade pizza, and a toss salad. Nothing exotic like our "Master Chef Cher," but I'm just an old country boy. Lol

Good Evening

Whole grain bread, hummus, alfalfa sprouts, cuke, tomato, sweet onion, shredded carrots. I am going to have a cup of chicken stock as well. Decafe tea to drink.

…with apple, walnuts, Gorgonzola, chopped endive & baby cuke, avocado slices and smoked salmon.
Also a nice Cabernet Franc and seltzer.
Later: a Trader Joe’s truffle brownie topped with coffee ice cream.

Grilling steaks, potatoes, and veggies.

We aren't dessert people.

My local daughter and s-i-l invited me to dinner. They made a delicious meal. Their low boil is potatoes, corn on the cob, shrimp and andoullie sausage. We had appetizers, sourdough bread. I'm taking a banana chocolate brownie home with me. They discovered they were short on Old Bay, but my visiting daughter and son-in-law carry it in their car, and saved the day. Nice family evening. We're sitting on the deck, listening to a mocking bird.

Field roast snausages (he thinks he’s funny), roasted corn, and mac & cheese, with pineapple Italian ice for dessert.

And now, I go into a food coma.

I bought a pound of bulk sweet Italian sausage, cut it into little squares, and rolled them into little sausage meatballs. I sauteed half a pound of mushrooms, sliced up four garlic cloves, and simmered these in a sauce made from Hunt's Garlic & Herb sauce (adding dried basil, oregano, and rosemary). Boiled the linguini and mixed it together.

It was fabulous.
