As a cat person I found this history of cats very interesting. I thought others might as well.

Yes. Cats are (along with rats) the predominant host for the fleas that carry plague and it killed them as well. hlthe2b Nov 13 #3

3. Yes. Cats are (along with rats) the predominant host for the fleas that carry plague and it killed them as well.

I'm sure sick or suspect cats were killed in large numbers as well--even if they did not quite understand the transmission cycle.
