Reading The Sentence by Louise Erdrich, pub 2021. This book is about, well, a great many things. Sentences, a wickedly funny ghost story, passion, a complex marriage, and of a woman's relentless errors. It's an absolute joy to read, as well as quite thought provoking.

Listening to Riviera Gold by Laurie R. King, pub. 2020. "Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes turn the Riviera upside down to crack their most captivating case yet. The Riviera in 1925 is a playground for the rich, built on corruption and greed. It is a place where treasure can be false, where love can destroy, and where life can be cheap." Lee Child calls this series “the most sustained feat of imagination in mystery fiction today.”

3. Nevada Barr

This week (month: 19 titles, I think) I’m reading my way through Nevada Barr’s Anna Pigeon mystery series for the second time. Savoring her intelligence. And nostalgic wanderlust traveling through all the national parks.

strong intelligent warm hearted woman of a certain age takes on the world on her own terms. Kinda exhilarating to read.

Plus the evocative description of national parks used for mood and plot.

The total package. As is Anna.

Ps she’s a cat lover, too.

Much like Shirley Rousseau Murphy's hubby was a Fed Parole Officer. Lends credibility to Wilma in the Joe Gray Series! (Joe Gray is a cat! 😊 👍 ). likely my all-time fav cozy series.

9. Reading "The Violin Conspiracy" by Brendan Slocumb

Listening to Mercedes Lackey’s “The Lark and the Wren”

The Violin Conspiracy is a first novel and lacks a bit of fluidity. I like it because I have personal, familiar connections with violins and violinist. The story is of a black man who is to enter the Tchaikovsky Competion play his GGGrandfather’s old violin which turns out to be a Stradivarius. The Stad gets stolen for ransom.

None of this is a spoiler.

The Lark and the Wren is wonderfully read. The story line is similar to other Lackey’s I’ve heard and read. That does not take away from the great story and Chrysta Lewis’ masterful reading.

is on my list.

I'm still fully engaged in reading about those who worked with OSS and SOE during WWII. Just started Code Name Lise, The True Story of the Woman Who Became WWII's Most Highly Decorated Spy by Larry Loftis. And then my step-daughter gave me the names of other books to read in the same genre, so it looks like it will be a thrilling summer for reading even if it is hot, humid and buggy here in Georgia.
