what will be my last sight when i slowly fade into death
reality pauses life on hold imagination hesitates a time
a chance to understand and set these thoughts in order
surrounded in whispers whimpers and meaningless cries
in what place in what situation dying in public or private
with family with friends with strangers or simply alone
how aware or how unaware of unraveling the mysteries
to lie in peace or quiver in pain passing in hope or fear
what of the spirit what of the soul what of angels’ songs
whether to heaven whether to hell to drift in purgatory
to stand before god’s crystal throne in a final judgement
immersed in brimstone fires covered in the glorification
or set alone in the empty nothing as it was before birth
separate atoms to electrons into the elemental universe
