If someone were to ask you to join some organization and told you a little bit about their history

which included massacres, torture and all manner of persecution, you'd call the cops wouldn't you?

You can twist this a lot of ways. Fanaticism leads to many atrocities.

But, more often than not, religion and politics have been used by the rich and powerful to get the poor to do their bidding and accumulate more wealth and power by any means necessary.
