Bereavement
Related: About this forumI finally got my husband's obit done
But at this point at almost a year, it will
be an in memoriam.
Gonna cost a lot, it's long.
But he deserves it.
He had an interesting life.
I feel so proud getting it done.
And he deserves a long form obit.
Thanks for your support.
It was hard to get it done.
August 12th makes a year.

(662 posts)and a friend managed the crematorium.
So saved a lot, but I had to do all the parts
myself.... beyond that Texas still requires
"Funeral Director" to manage the body basically.
There wasn't a funeral home.
Tomorrow I call and fall over when I get the prices,
but it is what it is.
At least it's done.

(17,930 posts)died on August 12 last year. They just finally got his marker placed on his grave yesterday. Apparently there was an employee not doing their job. They ended up firing that individual back in the spring and its taken this long to catch up. I was told late last year they were behind on getting the markers in. I was a fool to believe that.

(662 posts)I think partially understaffed, covid extra dead, and
the stone I ordered is on back order from
China.
If I had wanted pink Texas stone it would
probably be in already.
They just finally poured the concrete foundation,
so I'm assuming they will get the stone in this century.
The president of the cemetery association, my husband is burried in is a small 501c3, says that all the stone makers here are backed up.
