These gas prices are almost as bad as the job market: California gas prices may be headed toward a new all‑time record

Gas prices in California edged higher yet again Tuesday, climbing to an average of $5.82 for a gallon of regular unleaded, according to AAA, as the war with Iran continues to push crude oil prices upward.

California drivers, who typically endure the highest prices in the nation, have watched gas surge by $1.20 over the past month. Of course, the prices varies widely by region.

In metro Los Angeles, the average was $5.93 a gallon Tuesday. In San Francisco, drivers are now paying six bucks.

If you’re looking for the “cheapest” gasoline in the state, that’s in the northern Central Valley, where Sutter, Yuba, Butte, Shasta and Tehama counties are hovering around $5.50/gallon, according to AAA.
