(15,343 posts)There were no ratings on movies in those days, and my Mother, who worked multiple jobs as she raised four kids on her own, thought it would be a nice break for herself if she sent all the kids to a matinee. Who knew such a flick would play on a summer afternoon at the Strand Theater in Redondo Beach? I doubt my Mom gave the marquee even a passing glance.
It was quite a shit show for her though when we returned home permanently scarred over showers, stairs, and little old ladies sitting peacefully in a chair.

(632 posts)We were flipping through the channels around midnight and saw that Psycho was going to be on in a few minutes. We thought "Cool, the original Psycho!" About 20 minutes in, I dozed off and woke up right at the end. I was so embarrassed; how rude of me to fall asleep. I looked over at my friend and she was fast asleep!
No reflection on the movie; it's just what happens when you hit your "senior" years. You can't hang like you used to.
Great movie though. It's a good thing we'd both seen it before.
By the way, I don't think anybody in the world could've played Norman Bates as well as Anthony Perkins did. That was perfect casting.
