Let's talk about Trump's one page peace plan problem.... - Belle of the Ranch

Well, howdy there Internet people. It's Belle again. So, today we're going to talk about Trump's one page peace plan problem.

Before we get into this, it's important to remember that the current situation with Iran happened because Trump ended the multinational joint comprehensive plan of action that came about under Obama. Everything that has happened occurred because Trump tore up a deal because he thought he could get a better one.

It's also important to acknowledge that recent US intelligence assessments say that Trump's multiple strikes and whole military campaign has done almost nothing to their projected timeline of how long it would take Iran to build a nuke. Something both Iran and US intel said wasn't happening when Trump started the war.

Now, reporting has come out that Trump and Iran are discussing a one-page plan. To be clear, at time of recording, the details of the proposed plan aren't public and it isn't finalized.

Rubio said, "This is highly complex and technical, but we have to have a diplomatic solution that is very clear on the topics they are willing to negotiate on and the extent of the concessions they are willing to make at the front end in order to make it worthwhile.”

It's one page. How complex can it be? That being said, I don't want to trash something that could end unnecessary fighting until all the details are out, but it's pretty clear whatever it is isn't as good as the deal Trump walked away from. While I don't want to trash it yet, I don't have a problem telling you that the right-wing is already unhappy.

Conservative commentator Hugh Hewitt posted to social media, "This would be a terrible deal. I hope the terms of any deal would be significantly stricter. No enrichment ever. H EU to us stat. No more proxies. Turn on the Internet. President Trump never gives up leverage. Why would he start now with Iran on the ropes?

Because they're not on the ropes. Yeah, they're not happy. Realistically, Iran could walk away from enrichment at this point because Trump's blundering handed them proof of concept for their deterrent, control of the Strait. Trump's failed Project Freedom showed that the US couldn't break their hold on it.

Until the US transitions away from dirty energy, Iran now has concrete leverage it didn't have before Trump started his ill-advised war. But even though they have something better than a nuke at their disposal now, and the world knows it, they may not be willing to truly walk away from their nuclear program. That being said, they know how desperate Trump is to unring this bell, and they might give him some minor face saving concessions that he can use to play his base at home.

Trump even entertaining a deal that requires him to release billions to Iran, knowing that he'll get shredded in the media because he criticized other presidents for doing the same thing shows that even he knows that after all the lives lost, billions spent, alliances hurt, and the economies damaged, he led the US into a war that it comes out of weaker than it started.

Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.
