In attempting to understand magats, it is useful to consider that the ability to reason is not equally distributed among humans.

Concerning differences in intelligence among people and between people and brutes, John Locke said,

“Now that there is such a difference between men in respect of their understandings, I think nobody who has had any conversation with his neighbors will question…”

“The difference is exceeding great between some Men, and some Animals: But if we will compare the Understanding and Abilities of some Men, and some Brutes, we shall find so little difference, that ’twill be hard to say, that that of the Man is either clearer or larger.”

Based on the interviews in this video (and many other interviews of these folks that I have seen), I am inclined to agree with Locke.
