She is going to get top dollar for these appearances which she considers bullshit stuff.

She hangs on for the perks, security, celebrity status.
She will get more as a widow this way.

As part of her negotiations she may have to stay with him for so many years.
Not embarrass him with a divorce.
She also knows where all the bodies are buried.
He can only push her so far or she starts writing a tell all books and makes a fortune.
