8. There is reason for hope. Visible opposition across the nation DOES make a difference.

Focus may be on the cities (as in this feeble map from nytimes that captures a tiny fraction of the 2100+ sponsored events that took place).

I know for a fact that people in the Puget Sound showed up in places not captured on the nokings.org sponsored event map..

The scale may not be captured by the national news media, but local media is reporting --- and even in the smallest communities, people saw neighbors taking a stand, and that matters!

One protest doesn't turn the tide, but when someone takes action -- like turning out in a show of opposition -- they are more likely to take some other action, and another. Like pestering their electeds. Like connecting to others to lobby Democratic members of the U.S. House and Senate to get it together and release a "Letter to America" or some "Declaration" that sets out our grievances against our current mad king in simple, clear language. Surely, they can come to consensus on the worst of the violations against our constitutional democracy???

And wouldn't the lead up to July 4 be the perfect time? That's what I'm pestering my blue blue Rep. Pramila Jayapal on-- can you get your House colleagues on board with a MEANINGFUL joint statement? Is there any effort in the works? What is stalling it?? (And this is NOT a new ask)

As Desmond Tutu says, "Do your little bit of good where you are; it's those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world."
