Democrats in general, Democratic leadership, Garland and even Biden seemed frozen by the GOP pivot to "tourists", didn't realize the implications and landscape, and thought sound policies would right the ship of State, IMHO. Not to defend Garland, but did he have that much discretion, power? Biden was leaving the rule of law sacrosanct in the hands of DOJ. It always worked before, even if Nixon inflicted serious wounds. Did any of them anticipate the subsequent assault on the Judiciary in Toddler 2? Or that SCOTUS would tilt so severely? Don't forget the lies that seated the majority. Not to make this all sound like excuses. It's tragic, it's incompetent, it's expected. We've been blindsided by it all, which doesn't attest to strategic planning and competency. That's my take on it.
