Maxwell attorney calls client who lured children from middle schools to have sex with her and Epstein, a 'scapegoat.' [View all]
"If you looked up scapegoat in the dictionary, her picture would be next to the definition," Maxwell's attorney Markus
said today.
...the child rapist's lawyer then claimed they hadn't asked the Trump personal attorney-turned-Deputy AG for a pardon or any other benefit to Maxwell for talking to them, despite her refusal to this point to talk to investigators or testify in her own trial.
Maxwell's attorney, David Markus, told ABC News afterward, "There have been no asks and no promises."
"We haven't spoken to the president or anyone about a pardon just yet. And listen, the president this morning said he had the power to do so we hope he exercises that power in the right and just way," he said.
"We haven't asked for anything. This is not a situation where we are asking for anything in return for testimony or anything like that," Markus added. "Of course, everybody knows Ms. Maxwell would welcome any relief."
...why else whould she be talking right now, if not in collusion with Trump, facilitated through his former personal attorney, Todd Blanche, who, predictably has an actual personal relationship with Maxwell's attorney?
"David Oscar Markus, Maxwell's attorney and a friend of Blanche,
said Maxwell had a "productive day" with Blanche and "answered every single question" asked of her, declining to invoke privilege at any time. "
...this dog and pony show isn't just a sham, it's a criminal enterprise designed to give political cover to Trump by eliciting 'testimony' from a convicted child rapist who is already in jail for 20 years and has every incentive to lie.
What Trump wants in this instance is what he and his republican cohorts in Congress and on the Supreme Court have done; to autocratically reverse decisions and votes by citizen juries and elected officials which they disagree with, or go against their personal interests.
There won't be another trial before Ghislaine Maxwell testifies before Congress. There won't be any rebuttal testimony from any of the prosecutors and investigators who put Maxwell in jail; mainly because Trump fired New York federal prosecutor Maurene Comey who worked on the prosecutions against Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.
There won't be any victims either at the hearing to question their abuser or respond to her newfound willingness to selectively reveal what she knows. All of this one-sided testimony in collusion with Trump, ostensibly on his behalf, who has demonstrated there are no barriers between his White House and his obsequious Attorney General's DOJ.
