"The Antichrist" is of more interest/obsession to certain denominations compared to others. In some churches one could be a devout practitioner for years/decades with nary a mention, in others it would be a weekly topic.

But as you point out, in order for one to be bought in to the idea of the Antichrist, one must also be bought into the idea of a Christ (i.e. be some sort of Christian). The former doesn't exist/is incoherent without the latter.
