We are not out of Fire Season yet. I would not mind if they were sent to assist Oregon with the 'Moon Complex Fire' - which has burned over 19.523 acres and is only 10% contained - Oregon has assisted CA firefighting in the past. October is the month where I was evacuated from my home (N. Calif) in 2017.
I did just check WatchDuty (best fire ap ever), and I was pleasantly surprised to find very few fires in CA right now. *whew*, but there are quite a few up in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana.
The other personal experience I've had with National Guard is when my mom lived on Kauai and Hurricane Iniki wiped out her hair salon (2 walls still remained after the storm, with some of her paintings still hanging on those walls - weird, no?), but it was the National Guard who came to the people's rescue, clearing roads and setting up telephone banks (this was in 1992, pre cell-phones), and most importantly, ICE and Water stations. The men and women in the National Guard are certified Heroes. I want them to remain Heroes. I can't imagine many of them at all would support this move.
This is what the National Guard is for, that is what they sign up for (to help the public). They did not sign up to harass and frighten us, or prevent our free speech and ability to address our grievances to our government.
How can the President order a State's National Guard without the Governor? Is that even legal?
