You know, I grew up in Detroit in the 60s (OK Boomer). Back then, a man could get in with the Big 3, join the union and he'd be set for life. He could buy a house, a car, have the wife stay home and raise the kids (if she were so inclined), take a two-week vacation every year and retire with a pension. There was no such thing as "working poor." If you had a job, you could support yourself. Bygone days. Now, you need two incomes just to get by. Pensions are pretty much a thing of the past. The CEOs and shareholders keep making more and more while the workers make less and less.
